Embracing a Resilient Renton
✅ Mayor’s letter Standing with the LGBTQ community and businesses: After a series of attacks against our LGBTQ community in 2022 and 2023, I utilized my time and working relationship with Mayor Pavone to advocate for a statement affirming our stance with all our LGBTQ residents. In October 2023, the first time outside of the Pride month, the mayor’s office made a statement.
✅ Working to protect and uplift the LGBTQ community in Renton: On March 10th, the Renton City Council passed unanimously staff to research an 2STLGBQIA Protection Resolution which is coming up for discussion on April 7th, 2025 at 5:45pm. You can join and support by providing public comment on April 7th at 7pm at our weekly city council meeting.
✅ Uplifting our immigrant, refugee, undocumented, and underrepresented, marginalized voices on our regional boards: In my position on City Council, an as a sitting member on the Washington Sentencing Guidelines Commission, All Washington Cities Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Cabinet, Sound Cities Association’s Regional Law, Safety, Crime and Justice Board, and the South King County Housing and Homelessness Partners, I use my voice to uplift underrepresented voices and educate my colleagues. Presently, I am ensuring we stand united under the Keep Washington Working Act and State LGBTQ protections set into law.
