Planting Seeds for a Growing Renton
My top priority is ensuring all working-class families can thrive successfully in Renton. As a council member, I advocated for and supported initiatives to diversify housing options, increase density, and enhance transit access, and will continue to do so. By focusing on these strategies, Renton is working to ensure that our community remains inclusive, sustainable, and accessible to all who wish to call it home.
✅ Plan for Affordable Growth: At the end of 2024, we approved our Comprehensive Plan Update to accommodate a minimum of 17,000 new housing units and nearly 32,000 jobs over the next two decades. This plan emphasizes affordable multifamily housing development and includes incentives such as waiving specific fees for projects meeting affordable housing standards.
✅ Create Affordable Growth: Our partnerships with the Renton Housing Authority and Habitat for Humanity also contributes to development of affordable housing units, such as the Willowcrest Phase II project, which will provide 19 affordable townhome-style units in the Sunset neighborhood, Solera Apartments with 651 multifamily units, providing hundreds of market rate and affordable units, and Sunset Gardens Apartments, which is 100% of the 76 units are dedicated to being affordable. We are actively supporting the development of Kennydale Gateway with 285 residential units, Camelia Court with 72 units, Towns on 12th with 90 townhomes and the redevelopment of Triton Towers which will be a mix of residential, retail, and office spaces.
