Delivering on Transparency and Accessibility
In 2021, I ran on a promise to foster Community Engaged Governance, ensuring that transparency, accessibility, and meaningful public participation were at the heart of our city’s decision-making. Over the past four years, I have worked diligently to ensure our City is more open, responsive, and accountable to Renton residents.
✅ Increased Public Engagement: I have championed new and expanded opportunities for community input, including stronger community-driven planning: the Comprehensive Plan Update (adopted December 2024) was shaped by extensive community input, ensuring Renton’s growth aligns with residents’ needs in housing, transportation, and environmental sustainability, utilizing listening sessions and online engagement platforms to ensure all voices—especially those historically underrepresented—are heard in our city decisions. I have supported our city’s efforts to engage and educate our community with the Renton Civics Academy and Renton Police Department Community Police Academy, updating Renton’s Communications and Engagement Strategic Plan.
✅ Enhanced Government Transparency: Through initiatives like the “Word on the Street“ platform, the city has made it easier for residents to get fact-based responses to pressing questions, combat misinformation, and stay informed about city projects and policies.
✅ Commitment to Continued Improvement: As we move forward, I will push for even greater accessibility in city decision-making, expand community-driven initiatives, and advocate for policies that ensure every resident has a seat at the table.
